My driveway at sunset....
This White Cliffs opal was so pretty I left the back of the ring open so it could be seen.
A family who have a camp and claim on the field here came up for a few weeks and dug and sieved their old mullock heaps and I got to cut the better pieces which included a belemnite (see my opal fossils page under Stories for more info on belemnites), a lovely big specimen piece some solid opals and some doublets. I made some earrings from one of the pieces which was big enough to cut into two pieces. Finding earring pairs is so difficult as every piece of opal is unique, so it is great when you can get two stones from the one piece.
Hello and welcome to my blog about opal and my work. I thought I would share what I have been learning about opal and my processes of creation. Enjoy!
